Baseball Recap: Pacific Ridge Wins Going Away Against Guajome Park Academy

After losing to Guajome Park Academy the last time they met, Pacific Ridge decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Firebirds put the hurt on the Frogs with a sharp 10-4 win on Wednesday. With that victory, the Firebirds brought their scoring average up to 6.4 runs per game.

Madden Lafleur made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits (and only one walk). Those seven strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 3-for-4.

In other batting news, Michael Fredericks was incredible, going 1-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Pacific Ridge is undefeated when Fredericks posts two or more runs, but 2-6 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Cal Chivers, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

The win made it two in a row for Pacific Ridge and bumps their season record up to 5-6. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.0 runs over those games. As for Guajome Park Academy, they dropped their record down to 2-11 with the loss, which was their third straight on the road.

Pacific Ridge will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Frogs: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 2:30 p.m. on Friday.
