Preview: Pontotoc Warriors vs. South Panola Tigers
The Pontotoc Warriors will be staying on the road on Thursday to face off against the South Panola Tigers at 7:30 p.m. on November 30th. Both teams come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
On Tuesday, Pontotoc took their matchup on the road with ease, bagging a 81-52 victory over Houston. Given Pontotoc's advantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked 99th, while Houston is ranked 245th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, South Panola's three-game losing streak came to an end on Tuesday. They blew past Charleston 62-28 on the road. The matchup was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 44-11.
Demartric Houston was the offensive standout of the match as he scored 16 points along with 8 rebounds and 3 steals. Another player making a difference was Tre'darious Hines, who scored 7 points.
The losses dropped Pontotoc to 3-4 and Houston to 0-6.
Everything came up roses for Pontotoc against South Panola in their previous matchup back in November of 2022 as the squad secured a 76-35 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Pontotoc since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
