Preview: Rushford-Peterson Trojans vs. Caledonia Warriors
Rushford-Peterson is 0-10 against Caledonia since February of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Rushford-Peterson Trojans will be playing in front of their home fans against the Caledonia Warriors at 7:15 p.m. Both teams come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Rushford-Peterson had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 23.5 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They took down Schaeffer Academy 51-32. Given Rushford-Peterson's advantage in MaxPreps' Minnesota basketball rankings (they are ranked 126th, while Schaeffer Academy is ranked 340th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, Caledonia scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Saturday. Everything went their way against Jackson County Central as Caledonia made off with a 78-55 win. Caledonia has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 11 games by 23 points or more this season.
Rushford-Peterson's victory was their eighth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 18-8. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.1 points per game. As for Caledonia, they are on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 14 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 19-8 record this season.
Rushford-Peterson took a serious blow against Caledonia when the teams last played back in December of 2023, falling 57-28. Can Rushford-Peterson avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
