Baseball Recap: Chaney Takes a Loss

Chaney extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 14 on Thursday, dropping them down to 0-11. They came up short against the Southern Indians, falling 12-1. The Cowboys were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Indians apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in May of 2025.

As for Southern, the win snapped their losing streak at nine games and leaves them with a 4-10 record. Their offense finally found a way to get into gear: the high-octane performance was a 180-degree turn from their last three games.

For Southern's part, Mason Pitts was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run while striking out eight over four innings pitched. Pitts was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Mason Sosack, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April. Landen Heffner was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI.

While Chaney had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair will be back at it again later today.
