Baseball Game Preview: Cotulla Cowboys vs. Lytle Pirates

Cotulla hasn't had much luck against Lytle recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Cotulla Cowboys will face off against the Lytle Pirates at 7:00 p.m. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Cotulla took a ten-run loss the last time they faced off against George West, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. Cotulla narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past George West 6-5. The win was some much needed relief for the Cowboys as it spelled an end to their four-game losing streak.

Davyn Deltoro was excellent, going 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

Meanwhile, Lytle beat Karnes City 11-8 on Tuesday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Pirates.

The team relied heavily on Toby Davila, who scored three runs and stole Four bases. while going 1-for-4. Those four stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Juan Patlan also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Cotulla's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-6-1. As for Lytle, the win got them back to even at 9-9.

Cotulla came up short against Lytle in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, falling 8-4. Can Cotulla avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
