Volleyball Recap: Summerville Green Wave vs. West Ashley Wildcats
Summerville entered their tilt with West Ashley on Thursday with seven consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with eight. They were the clear victor by a 3-0 margin over the West Ashley Wildcats. The Green Wave have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Wildcats, too.
Summerville got the W, but it wasn't easy, at least in the second set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-13, 32-30, 25-19.
Despite the defeat, West Ashley saw an underclassman step up: Mason Toporek had nine digs, three kills, and 28 assists. Toporek is on a roll when it comes to assists, as she's now posted 15 or more in the last nine games she's played dating back to last season.
Summerville pushed their record up to 14-4 with the victory, which was their fifth straight on the road. As for West Ashley, their loss dropped their record down to 15-8-5.
