The Mercer Christian Academy Cavaliers waltzed into their contest on Saturday with four straight wins but they left with five. They walked away with a 59-52 win over Mount Hope Christian Academy. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Mercer Christian Academy also won the last time the pair played back in November of 2023.
MJ Patton continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 26 points and ten rebounds. He has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last seven times he's played. Another player making a difference was Chance Watkins, who scored eight points along with 13 rebounds.
Despite the loss, Mount Hope Christian Academy still got an impressive performance from JOSIAH MCKOY, who scored 20 points along with seven steals and six rebounds. That was a full 38.5% of Mount Hope Christian Academy's points, marking the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. BAUSTIN MORGAN was another key contributor, scoring seven points.
Mercer Christian Academy's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-6. As for Mount Hope Christian Academy, they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against New Life Christian Academy at 7:30 p.m. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in West Virginia (New Life Christian Academy is ranked 105th, while Mount Hope Christian Academy is ranked 108th).
