Basketball Recap: James David Coln's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Rocket City over Tennessee Heat

Rocket City was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They received a blow as they fell 67-53 to Tennessee Heat. While losing is never fun, the Falcons can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 317th in Alabama, while Tennessee Heat are ranked 82nd in Tennessee).

Rocket City's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was James David Coln, who almost dropped a double-double on 14 points and nine rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Tyler Schlapman, who went 6 for 14 on his way to 16 points and five boards.

Even though they lost, Rocket City smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in six consecutive games.

Rocket City's loss dropped their record down to 8-12. As for Tennessee Heat, they have been performing well recently as they've won eight of their last ten matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 16-10 record this season.

Rocket City didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 64-58 defeat against Upper Cumberland on the 25th. Tennessee Heat has also already played their next game, a 71-31 victory against Middle Tennessee Christian on the 25th.
