Softball Recap: Decatur's Run of Three Straight Victories Now Over

If Decatur was feeling good fresh off their 7-1 takedown of City View on Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Decatur Eagles fell 13-9 to the Groesbeck Goats on Friday. The Eagles' loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Decatur got a massive performance out of Abby Steele, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-2. Steele also put up a triple, which was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Annabel G?mez, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run and two RBI.

Even though they lost, Decatur lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've posted since back in April of 2024.

Decatur's defeat dropped their record down to 7-3. As for Groesbeck, their victory ended a six-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 4-7.

Coming up, Decatur will square off against Castleberry at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Groesbeck, they will challenge Iowa Park at 1:30 p.m. on Friday. Iowa Park's pitching crew has only allowed 2.4 runs per game this season, so Groesbeck's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
