Baseball Recap: Concordia Lutheran Comes Up Short in High-Profile Matchup with Lutheran South Academy

On Thursday, Concordia Lutheran faced Lutheran South Academy in a battle between two of the state's top teams. The Concordia Lutheran Crusaders lost 6-0 to the Lutheran South Academy Pioneers. It was the first time this season that the Crusaders let down their fans at home.

Jeremiah McCranie was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he pitched 5.1 innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. That's the fewest hits he has allowed since back in February of 2024.

On the hitting side, Concordia Lutheran saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Conner Jones, who went 1-for-2 with one double.

This is the second loss in a row for Concordia Lutheran and nudges their season record down to 8-3. As for Lutheran South Academy, the victory (which was their eighth in a row) raised their record to 17-1-1.

Coming up, Concordia Lutheran will square off against Episcopal on March 22nd. Concordia Lutheran's pitching crew has only allowed 3.5 runs per game this season, so Episcopal's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Lutheran South Academy, they will face off against HCYA at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average, (Lutheran South Academy 1.5, HCYA 3.9) so any runs scored will be well earned.
