Softball Recap: Wilder Wildcats vs. Greenleaf Friends Academy Grizzlies
Wilder extended their losing streak to five on Wednesday, dropping them down to 1-5. They came up short against the Greenleaf Friends Academy Grizzlies, falling 19-4. The Wildcats were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Grizzlies apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in April of 2025.
Wilder saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Natalie Escutia, who went 1-for-3 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one double. Melissa Lopez was another, going 1-for-2 with three stolen bases and two runs.
As for Greenleaf Friends Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 2-4. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for they considering their two-run performance the contest before.
On Greenleaf Friends Academy's side, Tessa Bryan made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over five innings while giving up four earned runs off five hits (and not a single walk). Bryan has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. That RBI marked the first that she has brought in this season.
In other batting news, Kaylin Wilks was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with eight stolen bases, four runs, and one RBI. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Stephanie Swindlehurst, who went 2-for-3 with five stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs.
