The Oglesby Tigers will challenge the Aquilla Cougars at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Oglesby has given up an average of 7.4 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Oglesby couldn't beat Dallas HSAA on Friday even though they stacked four runs on them in the fifth inning. The Tigers lost 22-6 to the Angels.
Meanwhile, after only two runs in their last game, Aquilla made sure to put some runs up on the board against Jonesboro on Friday. The Cougars were the clear victors by a 22-2 margin over the Eagles. Considering the Cougars have won three contests by more than ten runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Ryan Hill made a splash no matter where he played. He struck out six batters over four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits. He is becoming a predictor of Aquilla's success: when he allows at most one earned run the team is 4-1 (and 1-4 when he doesn't). Hill was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all five of his plate appearances with five runs, three RBI, and two doubles. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 2.1 runs per game.
In other batting news, Ziah McClary Wilson was a standout: he got on base in three of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. Another player making a difference was Austin Hines, who went 1-for-4 with five RBI, one run, and one double.
Aquilla always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .634. The last time their OBP was this high was back in February of 2025.
Oglesby has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-9 record this season. As for Aquilla, the win got them back to even at 5-5.
Everything went Oglesby's way against Aquilla when the teams last played last Friday, as Oglesby made off with a 14-2 victory. Will the Tigers repeat their success, or do the Cougars have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
