Flanagan is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Wednesday. They skirted past Nova 7-5. The Falcons haven't had any issues with the Titans recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.
Jose Mercano made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched two innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-5 with one double and one RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Miguel Colmenares, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with one home run and three RBI. Carter Roberts was another key player, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with one home run.
Flanagan kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, St. Thomas Aquinas entered their tilt with Cooper City on Wednesday with four consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with five. They put the hurt on the Cowboys with a sharp 9-1 win. The result was nothing new for the Raiders, who have now won 15 games by six runs or more so far this season.
Thomas Giltner looked comfortable as he tossed four innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits.
At the plate, Zack Malvasio was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Cole Lasher, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.
St. Thomas Aquinas' victory bumped their record up to 20-5-1. As for Flanagan, their win bumped their record up to 12-15.
Flanagan came up short against St. Thomas Aquinas in their previous meeting back in February, falling 4-0. Can the Falcons avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
