It was a proper cat-fight when Monsignor Farrell challenged Cardinal Hayes on Saturday. The Lions put the hurt on the Cardinals with a sharp 38-14 win. The Lions might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six games by 22 points or more this season.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Monsignor Farrell to victory, but perhaps none more so than Bryce Moye, who threw for 235 yards and a pair of touchdowns while completing 77.8% of his passes, and also punched in one score on the ground. The Lions also got a significant boost from Kevin Gumb Jr, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 120 yards.

Another reason for the win was Monsignor Farrell's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for 3.5 sacks. Cole Savino refused to say out of the backfield, picking up 1.5 sacks all by himself.

Monsignor Farrell pushed their record up to 8-1 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 9.4 points on average over those games. As for Cardinal Hayes, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-7.

Monsignor Farrell does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Cardinal Hayes, they are taking a road trip to face off against St. Anthony's at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Cardinals will need to watch out since the Friars have now posted at least 31 points in their last five contests.
