Softball Recap: Southern School of Energy and Sustainability Spartans vs. South Granville Vikings

Southern School of Energy and Sustainability had lost three straight at home, but on Thursday they dropped their record down to 2-14 to make it four. They lost 20-0 to the South Granville Vikings. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Vikings this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 28-0 on Tuesday.

As for South Granville, the win (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 19-3. The result was nothing new for the Vikings, who have now won 15 contests by six runs or more so far this season.

For South Granville's part, Chaleigh Currin was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). Currin has been consistent: she hasn't given up a single earned run in seven consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, firing off four home runs and eight RBI while going 4-for-4. Those four home runs gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Avery Wilson was incredible, going 2-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times she's played. Another player making a difference was Sydney Hockaday, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.

Coming up, Southern School of Energy and Sustainability will welcome Granville Central at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The Spartans are facing the Panthers at the right time seeing as the Panthers are stuck on a three-game losing streak. South Granville does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
