North Bay Haven Academy is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. They had just enough and edged out Westminster Christian 4-3.
Addison Mallon spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on four hits.
On the hitting side, McKenzie Goff was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.
Meanwhile, Calvary Christian and Trinity Catholic (ranked 12th and 28th in the MaxPreps national rankings respectively) squared off in a high-profile contest on Tuesday. The Warriors won by a run and slipped past the Celtics 6-5. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Warriors have posted since March 28th.
Morgen Talley was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She struck out ten batters over seven innings while giving up four earned (and one unearned) runs off three hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than ten strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base and two RBI.
Talley wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Braylee Rano, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base. Rano has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last six times she's played.
The win was the 11th in a row for Calvary Christian, bringing their record up to 29-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for North Bay Haven Academy, their record is now 25-3.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Wednesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. North Bay Haven Academy has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.6 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Calvary Christian struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 10.5 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
