Meanwhile, Central was the victim of a rough 68-42 defeat at the hands of Washington on Wednesday. Central has struggled against Washington recently, as their contest on Wednesday was their third consecutive lost matchup.
Central's defeat came about despite a quality game from Lia Sims, who scored 38 points along with 8 steals and 5 rebounds. The match was Sims' fourth in a row with at least ten points.
Independence's loss dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Central, their loss dropped their record down to 1-4.
Independence took a serious blow against Central when the teams last played back in December of 2022, falling 57-25. Can Independence avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
