Hope Christian faced Albuquerque Academy in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Tuesday. The Huskies fell 3-1 to the Chargers. The Huskies' loss signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.

Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-20, 25-17, 21-25, 25-16.

Despite the defeat, Hope Christian saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Sway Baca had six digs and five aces. Baca has been hot, having also posted 12 or more assists the last six times she's played.

Albuquerque Academy was led to victory by Olivia Hammond and Kiara Brown. Hammond had five digs and three aces, while Brown hit 65.6% for 22 kills and seven digs and two aces. Those 22 kills gave Brown a new career-high.

Hope Christian's loss dropped their record down to 15-6. As for Albuquerque Academy, the victory (which was their eighth in a row) raised their record to 15-6.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Hope Christian will challenge rival Valley at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Albuquerque Academy is set to face off against their familiar foe Del Norte at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
