Basketball Recap: Aysiah Harris' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Largo over Douglass

Largo was the 78-42 winner over Douglass when they last played one another back in January of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Largo Lions took a 62-53 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Douglass Eagles on Tuesday. The Lions have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Largo's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Aysiah Harris, who went 8 of 14 en route to 26 points. Harris' evening made it six games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Aleah Rodriguez, who posted 18 points.

Douglass' win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Anaiya Morrison, who went 9 for 19 on her way to 28 points. Morrison continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Khloe Thomas, who went 5 of 11 en route to 15 points.

Largo's defeat was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 4-2. As for Douglass, their victory bumped their record up to 7-4.

Largo didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 74-7 win against Potomac on the 16th. Douglass has also already played their next game (against Eleanor Roosevelt), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
