Softball Recap: Ragsdale Wins Going Away Against Page

Ragsdale's game last Friday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. Everything went their way against the Page Pirates as they made off with a 14-3 win. The result was nothing new for the Tigers, who have now won ten matches by seven runs or more so far this season.

Gracie Jet Cuthrell was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 12 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in February. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 3-for-5.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Morgan Osborne, who got on base in all five of her plate appearances with one home run, two stolen bases, and three runs. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Sara Lopez-Cornado, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and one double.

Ragsdale's victory bumped their record up to 10-5. As for Page, their defeat was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 1-8.

Ragsdale and Page could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps North Carolina Rankings. The Tigers will challenge Southeast Guilford at 6:00 p.m. on Friday with a big rank disadvantage (253 vs. 82). Meanwhile, Page (ranked 392nd) will meet Northwest Guilford (ranked 182nd) at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
