Baseball Recap: Immaculata-La Salle Comes Up Short

Immaculata-La Salle fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against Miami Christian on Wednesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Miami Christian Victors by a score of 4-3. The Royal Lions were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Victors apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in April of 2018.

Alexander Corzo spent all 7.1 innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three earned (and one unearned) runs on seven hits. He has been consistent : he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Immaculata-La Salle saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Hector Sosa, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one RBI.

Immaculata-La Salle's loss dropped their record down to 8-4. As for Miami Christian, they pushed their record up to 8-9 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Immaculata-La Salle will take on Palmetto at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. Immaculata-La Salle is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.9 runs per game this season. As for Miami Christian, they will face off against Southridge at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Southridge's pitching crew has only allowed 3.3 runs per game this season, so Miami Christian's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
