Softball Game Preview: Grenada Chargers vs. Vicksburg Gators

The Grenada Chargers will take on the Vicksburg Gators at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Grenada is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.4 runs per game this season.

Vicksburg will be up against a hot Grenada squad: the team just extended their winning streak to three. The Chargers never let Center Hill get on the board and left with a 5-0 victory on Thursday.

The result came thanks to Mary Taylour Wilbourn's shutout, as she gave up just three hits and racked up ten Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up a single earned run in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Grenada saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Olivia Lashley, who went 2-for-3 with one run.

The home team had won the previous three meetings between Vicksburg and Terry, and Vicksburg kept the tradition alive. The Gators were the clear victors by a 15-5 margin over the Bulldogs on Thursday.

The team relied heavily on Trinity McGloster, who went 1-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. That triple was her first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Zion Harvey, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Vicksburg kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in four consecutive contests.

Vicksburg's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-12. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.3 runs over those games. As for Grenada, their win bumped their record up to 16-8.
