A feisty cat fight will be fought as Christopher Cougars face off against Lincoln Lions at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Christopher has given up an average of 8.7 runs per game this season, but Wednesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Christopher is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They fell 17-13 to Watsonville on Friday. The Cougars haven't had much luck with the Wildcatz recently, as the team has come up short the last nine times they've met.
Chevelle Quistian led a balanced group of hitters, going 3-for-5 with four RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024. Isabella Espinosa was another key player, scoring three runs while going 2-for-3.
Meanwhile, Lincoln has relied on a stalwart pitchers averaging four runs allowed per game, but that average took a hit on Monday. They came up short against Piedmont Hills, falling 16-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Lions have suffered since April 16, 2024.
Serenity Hernandez was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring a run while going 3-for-4.
Lincoln's loss was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 5-3. As for Christopher, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-4.
Wednesday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Christopher hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .330. However, it's not like Lincoln struggles in that department as they've averaged .436. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
