Basketball Game Preview: Jasper Vikings vs. Cullman Bearcats

Jasper hasn't had much luck against Cullman recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. Having just played yesterday, the Jasper Vikings will head out on the road to face off against the Cullman Bearcats at 7:30 p.m. Jasper knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past nine games -- so hopefully Cullman likes a good challenge.

Jasper can't be too worried about heading out to take on Cullman: they just beat Carbon Hill at home, who had been dominant on their own court up to that point. Jasper blew past Carbon Hill 74-43 on Monday. The Vikings have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 16 contests by 23 points or more this season.

Meanwhile, Cullman unfortunately witnessed the end of their eight-game winning streak on Friday. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 75-74 to Mortimer Jordan. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Bearcats came into the match with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked tenth, while the Blue Devils are ranked 182nd).

Jasper has also been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 18-6 record this season. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 31.9 points. As for Cullman, their loss ended a six-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 21-4.

Jasper was dealt a bruising 74-39 defeat at the hands of Cullman in their previous matchup back in December of 2021. Can Jasper avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
