JAG dropped down to 5-3 on Thursday, ending the team's three-game streak of wins. They fell just short of the Carroll Eagles by a score of 6-5. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Eagles this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 13-3 back in March.

Jamori Mallard made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Courtney Walker also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

As for Carroll, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 7-14-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory they have posted since March 9th.

On Carroll's side, Daniel Lopez spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and four unearned) runs on three hits and racked up six Ks. Lopez has become a key player for the Eagles: the team is 2-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 5-13-1 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Joseph Del Rosario was excellent, getting on base in two of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run. He is becoming a predictor of Carroll's success: when he posts at least two stolen bases the team is 5-1 (and 2-13-1 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Zekayden Vincent, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.

Looking ahead, JAG will be playing in front of their home fans against Enterprise at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Carroll, they have already played their next contest, a 16-0 defeat against Andalusia on the 3rd.
