Softball Game Preview: Elmwood Royals vs. McComb Panthers

The Elmwood Royals will head out on the road to square off against the McComb Panthers at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Elmwood's pitching crew has only allowed 3.8 runs per game this season, so McComb's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

On Saturday, Elmwood had just enough and edged out Bryan 3-1.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when McComb challenged Kalida on Thursday. The Panthers blew past the Wildcats 15-8. The Panthers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four matches by seven runs or more this season.

Elmwood has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-6 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.3 runs over those games. As for McComb, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-5.

Elmwood took their win against McComb in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 13-6 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Royals since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
