Recap: Herington Railroaders vs. Little River Redskins
If the Herington Railroaders were feeling good off their 74-46 takedown of the Peabody-Burns Warriors on Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Herington fell just short of Little River by a score of 57-54. Herington has not had much luck with Little River recently, as the team's come up short the last seven times they've met.
When it comes to explaining why Herington lost on Tuesday, one person who can't be blamed is Tyus Becker. Despite the final result, he scored 27 points along with nine rebounds and six steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Kwinton Barlow-Mckenna, who scored ten points.
Little River found their leader in underclassman Jaxson Konen, who scored 23 points. Those 23 points set a new season-high mark for him. Andrew Smith was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with five rebounds.
Herington now has a losing record at 2-3. As for Little River, the win got them back to even at 3-3.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Herington will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Rural Vista [Hope/White City] at 7:30 p.m. on January 5, 2024. Rural Vista [Hope/White City] has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. Little River will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Peabody-Burns at 7:00 p.m. on January 5, 2024. Hopefully Peabody-Burns focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 14 on Tuesday.
