Baseball Game Preview: Cambridge-Isanti Bluejackets vs. St. Francis Fighting Saints

Cambridge-Isanti hasn't had much luck against St. Francis recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Bluejackets will challenge the Fighting Saints at 4:30 p.m.

Cambridge-Isanti's last matchup with Sartell-St. Stephen could've gone either way, but unfortunately the same can't be said for the pair's game on Monday. The Bluejackets lost 10-0 to the Sabres. The Bluejackets just can't catch a break and have now endured three losses in a row.

Meanwhile, after only one run in their last match, St. Francis made sure to put some runs up on the board against Zimmerman on Monday. The Fighting Saints never let the Thunder get on the board and left with an 11-0 victory. Considering the Fighting Saints' hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.

The team relied heavily on Cooper Fiskewold, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. Those five RBI gave him a new career-high. Hunter Nalewaja was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

St. Francis hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Zimmerman struck out 11 times.

Cambridge-Isanti's defeat dropped their record down to 6-5. As for St. Francis, the win snapped their losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 8-4 record.

Cambridge-Isanti suffered a grim 11-0 defeat to St. Francis when the teams last played back in April. Can the Bluejackets avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
