Basketball Recap: Amare Jackson Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Chapel Hill

It was a proper cat-fight when Westlake challenged Chapel Hill on Friday. The Westlake Lions snuck past the Chapel Hill Panthers with a 65-61 victory. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 66-58 on January 7th.

Westlake's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Amare Jackson, who almost dropped a double-double on 13 points and nine boards. The dominant performance also gave Jackson a new career-high in blocks (two). Another player making a difference was Amir Eichelberger, who almost dropped a double-double on 16 points and nine rebounds.

Westlake is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 14-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 70.3 points per game. As for Chapel Hill, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 14-7.

Westlake wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, an 82-62 victory against East Coweta on the 25th. As for Chapel Hill, they will head out to challenge Carrollton at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
