Preview: Manatee Hurricanes vs. Palmetto Tigers
The Manatee Hurricanes will head out on the road to face off against the Palmetto Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Manatee is not getting complacent, as they presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Palmetto in Florida (Manatee is ranked 82nd, while Palmetto is ranked 204th).
Last Friday, Manatee came up short against Riverview Sarasota and fell 21-14. It was the first time this season that Manatee let down their fans at home.
Manatee's defeat came about despite a quality game from Bonshavior Bean Jr., who picked up 84 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Meanwhile, Palmetto took a serious blow against Venice on Friday, falling 51-16. Palmetto was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 44-10.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Clayton Dees, who rushed for six yards and a touchdown, and also threw for 205 yards and a touchdown.
The losses dropped Manatee to 6-2 and Palmetto to 4-3.
Manatee came up short against Palmetto when the teams last played back in October of 2022, falling 26-21. Thankfully for Manatee, Kyrie Marshall (who rushed for 145 yards and a touchdown) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
