Baseball Recap: Greenwood Mennonite Triumphs

Greenwood Mennonite hadn't done well against Salisbury Christian recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Flames never let Salisbury Christian get on the board and left with a 10-0 win. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Flames considering their two-run performance the contest before.

Blake Mast was a major factor no matter where he played. He kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out nine over six innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run any time he's pitched this season. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4.

In other batting news, Austin Dean was excellent, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-4. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in RBI (two). Another player making a difference was Logan Dear (HS), who scored a run while going 1-for-2.

Greenwood Mennonite's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-3. As for Salisbury Christian, their loss ended a five-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 1-2.

Looking ahead, Greenwood Mennonite will host Varsity Opponent at 3:45 p.m. on Friday. As for Salisbury Christian, they will head out on the road to take on Chincoteague at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
