Basketball Recap: Kendaleigh Wesley's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Blount over Murphy

Blount was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were three points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 45-42 heartbreaker at the hands of the Murphy Panthers. The Leopards were not able to make up for their loss to the Panthers from their previous meeting back in January of 2024.

Blount's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kendaleigh Wesley, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and ten rebounds. Another player making a difference was Amayah Bracy, who almost dropped a double-double on 16 points and nine rebounds.

Blount's loss dropped their record down to 13-9. As for Murphy, their victory ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 10-9.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Blount will head out to challenge Theodore at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Blount has insisted on making their lastthree contests complete nail-biters, turning in a record of 0-3 during that stretch of close contests. As for Murphy, they will head out on the road to face off against McGill-Toolen at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
