Baseball Game Preview: Tularosa Wildcats vs. Portales Rams

The Tularosa Wildcats will take on the Portales Rams at 10:00 a.m. on Friday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.

On Thursday, Tularosa came up short against Non Varsity Tournament Opponent and fell 9-6.

Tularosa saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ayden Esquero, who scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. Esquero has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times he's played.

Meanwhile, Portales unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They took a 14-9 hit to the loss column at the hands of Ruidoso on Thursday. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since March 30, 2018, but that streak is no more.

Tularosa suffered a grim 13-0 defeat to Portales in their previous meeting back in March of 2017. Can Tularosa avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
