2A Region 6 recap Sept. 26, 2012
St. Joseph Catholic extended the longest winning streak in 2A Region 6 this week by beating Union, 35-6. The victory was the sixth in a row for the team.
St. Joseph Catholic made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 2,468 from 2,986. The improvement came about via a 35-6 victory over the Yellowjackets last week.
Flip Godfrey's team's Chris Hanneke and Nick Beasley have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Hanneke has thrown for 408 yards this season, while Beasley, a 6-foot-2 receiver, has nine catches for 243 yards. Puckett's Hakeem Carr leads the league in rushing yards with 421.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when the Bruins take on Loyd Star. St. Joseph Catholic is currently in first, while the Hornets are in fourth.
The Bruins led 2A Region 6 in scoring this week after putting up 35 points on Union.
