Basketball Recap: Casady Takes Loss Despite Strong Performances from James Elder and Davis Currie

Casady was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their ninth straight defeat. The matchup between them and the Sulphur Bulldogs didn't end well, with the Casady Cyclones falling 63-45. The Cyclones were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Bulldogs apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in January of 2024.

Davis Currie and James Elder certainly did their best on Thursday to avoid the loss. Currie went 9 for 16 en route to 22 points, while Elder dropped a double-double on 11 points and 12 boards. That's the most rebounds Elder has posted since back in January of 2024. Sam Edwards was another key player, putting up six points.

Casady's defeat dropped their record down to 1-14. As for Sulphur, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 7-5 record this season.

Casady wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 47-36 victory against Elk City on the 24th. Sulphur has also already played their next match, a 74-49 loss against North Rock Creek on the 24th.
