Volleyball Recap: University Trailblazers vs. Christel House Eagles
University proved they can win big back in March (they won by three) and on Thursday they proved they can win the close ones too. They had just enough and edged out the Christel House Eagles 3-2.
University wouldn't go down easily and took Christel House into a fifth set where they got it done with a two-point win. The match finished with set scores of 20-25, 25-19, 24-26, 25-12, 16-14.
University was led to victory by Gavin Kim and Connor Bergeson-Dana. Kim had 31 digs and one assist, while Bergeson-Dana had 11 digs and four aces.
They weren't the only good server: University was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 15 aces. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Christel House only served four aces.
Despite the loss, Christel House still got an impressive performance from Kevin Cruz Vera, who had 21 digs, 12 kills, and one block. Another player making a difference was David Carrillo-Miramontes, who had 20 digs.
University's victory bumped their record up to 2-0. As for Christel House, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-3 record this season.
University didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 2-0 defeat against Irvington Preparatory Academy on the 12th. As for Christel House, they have also already played their next matchup, a 3-0 loss against Mooresville on the 15th.
