Volleyball Recap: Archbishop Moeller Falls Despite Big Games from Danny Mcaneny and Tyler Wong

If Archbishop Moeller was riding high fresh off their 3-0 takedown of La Salle last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Fighting Crusaders lost 3-0 to the St. Xavier Bombers on Friday. The loss continues a trend for the Fighting Crusaders in their meetings with the Bombers: they've now lost seven in a row.

Archbishop Moeller took the loss but they managed to make steady progress, increasing their score in every set they played. The match finished with set scores of 25-17, 25-21, 26-24.

Archbishop Moeller's loss came despite strong showings from Tyler Wong and Danny McAneny. Wong had 13 digs and one assist, while McAneny had eight digs. Elvis Arvay also deserves some recognition as he had his first block of the season.

Among those leading the charge was Luke Sorce, who had 13 digs and four assists.

Archbishop Moeller's defeat dropped their record down to 10-6. As for St. Xavier, their victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 18-1.

Looking ahead, Archbishop Moeller will be playing in front of their home fans against Lakota West at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Fighting Crusaders are facing the Firebirds at the right time seeing as the Firebirds are stuck on a five-game losing streak. As for St. Xavier, they will venture away from home to challenge Roncalli at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday. The Royals will roll in looking for their 13th straight win, something the Bombers surely won't give up without a fight.
