Northview Academy hadn't done well against Gatlinburg-Pittman recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. The Cougars managed a 65-59 victory over the Highlanders. For the Cougars, this counts as revenge for the 71-63 win the Highlanders walked away with the last time they faced one another back in January.

Gatlinburg-Pittman's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Quinn Coykendall, who shot 50% from the field to rack up 14 points and seven boards. Coykendall is on a roll when it comes to shooting accuracy, as he's posted one of at least 50% in the last three games he's played. Malachi Palmer was another key player, going 6-for-10 en route to 15 points.

The victory made it two in a row for Northview Academy and bumps their season record up to 4-2. Those wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.5 points over those games. As for Gatlinburg-Pittman, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-3 record this season.

Northview Academy has already played their next contest, a 75-61 loss against Scott on the 12th. Gatlinburg-Pittman will take on Morristown-Hamblen West in a holiday battle at 7:30 p.m. on Monday.
