Minersville waltzed into their matchup  on Saturday with six straight wins... but they left with seven. They blew past Weatherly, posting  a  76-42 victory. Given the Battlin' Miners' advantage  in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings  (they are ranked 66th, while Weatherly are ranked 459th), the result  wasn't entirely unexpected.
 Shazier Bethea was  his usual excellent self,  going 7 for 13  to rack up 25  points and five  rebounds. His morning made it three games in a row in which  he has scored at least 22 points.  Bradley Kostishak was another key player,  dropping  a double-double with 19 points and ten  boards.
 Minersville was working as a unit and  finished the game with 15  assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Weatherly only racked up six  assists.
 Weatherly lost  despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was   Ian Mckeegan, who  posted 12  points. He is also on a roll when it comes to  steals, as he's  now  grabbed two or more in the last eight games he's  played. Another player making a difference was  Corbin Wagner, who  earned 12 points.
Minersville's win bumped their record up to 20-3. As for Weatherly, they have  traveled a rocky road recently having  lost three of their last four games,  which has put a noticeable dent in their 12-10 record  this season.
 Coming up, Minersville will square off against Nativity BVM at 6:00  p.m.  on Wednesday. One thing working in Nativity BVM's favor is that they have posted at least 55  points  in their last nine contests. As for Weatherly, they will host Northumberland Christian  at 2:30  p.m.  on Wednesday. Weatherly is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 58.5  points per game  this season.
