Basketball Recap: Ezekiel Academy Beats Rocket City for Their 13th Straight Victory

Ezekiel Academy extended their winning streak (dating back to last season) to 13 on Saturday, bumping them up to 4-0. They put the hurt on the Rocket City Falcons with a sharp 41-20 victory. The Knights have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three matchups by 21 points or more this season.

Gianna Johnson was her usual excellent self, almost dropping a double-double with 17 points and nine rebounds. Addi Newell was another key player, putting up eight points and five steals.

Ezekiel Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 26 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've posted since back in December of 2024.

As for Rocket City, their loss dropped their record down to 2-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat they have suffered since January 31st.

Despite the loss, Rocket City saw an underclassman step up: freshman Lily Trotter posted ten points in addition to six steals and three blocks. Trotter also set a new season-high mark in field goal percentage with 67%. Another player making a difference was Allegra Borchers, who scored six points and seven boards.

Ezekiel Academy will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Hooper Academy at 3:00 p.m. on the 14th. Rocket City has already played their next contest (against Master's Hand Christian), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
