Volleyball Preview: Borden Braves vs. West Washington Senators
On Thursday Borden will have to hit the road after four straight games at home. They will challenge the West Washington Senators at 7:00 p.m. Borden will be strutting in after a win while West Washington will be coming in after a defeat.
Borden will bounce into Thursday's game after beating Charlestown, who they hadn't topped in nine consecutive meetings. Borden walked away with a 3-1 victory over Charlestown on Tuesday.
If you add up the scores from across all four sets (93-90) Borden actually scored fewer points, but in the end it didn't matter. The final score came out to 25-21, 25-22, 13-25, 27-25.
Borden can attribute much of their success to Aubrey Miller, who had ten digs and two aces. That's the most aces Miller has posted in her last eight matches. Another player making a difference was Alivia Thomas, who had eight digs.
Borden was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 13 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least six aces in four consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, West Washington was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They came up short against Lanesville, falling 3-0.
West Washington took the loss but they managed to make steady progress, increasing their score in every set they played. The match finished with set scores of 25-20, 25-21, 28-26.
Borden is on a roll lately: they've won 14 of their last 17 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 19-5 record this season. As for West Washington, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-11.
