Basketball Recap: Somerset Prep's Luck Changes for the Better on Wednesday

Somerset Prep had to endure a nine-game losing streak dating back to last season, but that streak is no more. They came out on top against the FAU High Owls by a score of 70-59 on Wednesday. The high-flying offensive performance was a huge turnaround for Somerset Prep considering their 27-point performance the match before.

FAU High's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jarret Mauvais, who posted 22 points. Antonio Mitkov was another key player, putting up 14 points.

Somerset Prep's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-5. As for FAU High, they moved to 5-2 with that defeat, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

Somerset Prep will host King's Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The timing isn't great for Somerset Prep: they have been struggling with five straight losses at home dating back to last season, while King's Academy has snatched up three consecutive wins on the road. FAU High has already played their next game, a 62-48 win against Sports Leadership & Management on the 16th.
