Baseball Recap: Danbury Takes a Loss

Danbury had lost six straight on the road, but on Wednesday they dropped their record down to 6-16 to make it seven. They lost 13-3 to the Hopewell-Loudon Chieftains. That's two games in a row now that the Lakers have lost by exactly ten runs.

Dylan Kenley was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with one run and one RBI. Miles McDonald also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

As for Hopewell-Loudon, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 18-5. Considering they have won 11 contests by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

On Hopewell-Loudon's side, Matthew Wyman made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Wyman was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April.

In other batting news, Hopewell-Loudon let Brayden Brickman and Kellen Frankart run wild. Brickman got on base in all four of his plate appearances with four stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI, while Frankart got on base in all four of his plate appearances with three stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most runs Brickman has posted since back in April. Braylon Martinez was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Looking ahead, Danbury will welcome Open Door Christian at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Hopewell-Loudon, they will head out on the road to challenge Liberty-Benton at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Chieftains will need to watch out since the Eagles have now posted at least ten runs in their last four matchups.
