Basketball Recap: Five Straight Road Victories for Glen Lake

Onekama typically has all the answers at home, but on Tuesday Glen Lake proved too difficult a challenge. They strolled past the Onekama Portagers with points to spare, taking the game 60-42. Given the Lakers' advantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 42nd, while the Portagers are ranked 164th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Glen Lake's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Benji Allen led the charge by dropping a double-double on 16 points and ten rebounds. Allen's evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jacob Plamondon, who went 6 for 8 en route to 18 points along with six boards and three blocks.

Glen Lake smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive boards in four consecutive matches.

Glen Lake pushed their record up to 11-1 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 67.4 points per game. As for Onekama, their defeat ended a seven-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 10-4.
