Basketball Game Preview: Pearland Oilers vs. Pasadena Memorial Mavericks

Pearland has gone 5-0 against Pasadena Memorial recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Saturday. The Pearland Oilers will head out on the road to face off against the Pasadena Memorial Mavericks at 1:00 p.m. Pearland is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 58.5 points per game this season.

Pearland will head into Wednesday's contest on the come-up: they were handed a heart-breaking two-point defeat in their last match, but they sure didn't let that happen against Dobie on Wednesday. Pearland breezed by Dobie to the tune of 51-21. Given the Oilers' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 43rd, while the Longhorns are ranked 691st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

As for Pasadena Memorial, they have been struggling recently as they've lost 14 of their last 16 matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-19 record this season.

Everything came up roses for Pearland against Pasadena Memorial in their previous meeting back in December of 2024, as the squad secured a 67-13 victory. In that game, Pearland amassed a halftime lead of 35-8, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Saturday.
