Dundee is a perfect 3-0 against Summerfield since April of 2018 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Vikings will head out on the road to face off against the Bulldogs at 4:00 p.m. Dundee is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.5 runs per game this season.
On Wednesday, Dundee got the win against Madison by a conclusive 13-5. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Vikings.
Kaylee Imo was a major factor no matter where she played. She struck out nine batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off seven hits. Imo was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one run and one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ella Rath, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Annalyse Lay, who went 3-for-4 with one run and one RBI.
Dundee kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. They are 7-2 when they post 11 or more hits.
Meanwhile, Summerfield sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-3 victory over Jefferson on Tuesday.
Like Dundee, Summerfield also got a great game from a two-way player: Brea Olmstead. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 11 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits. Olmstead was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Summerfield let Makenzie Wolfe and Mia Samples run wild. Wolfe went 1-for-3 with one triple and two RBI, while Samples went 1-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. That triple was Samples' first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Elena Miller, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one run.
Summerfield has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-6 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.8 runs over those games. As for Dundee, their record now sits at 10-8.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Thursday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Dundee has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Summerfield struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 6.6 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Everything went Dundee's way against Summerfield when the teams last played back in April of 2024, as Dundee made off with a 10-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Vikings since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
