Basketball Recap: Layton Falls Short of Davis in the Playoffs

Despite a phenomenal run in the regular season, Layton couldn't carry that success into this playoff game. They came up short against the Davis Darts on Wednesday, falling 75-55. The Lancers' defeat signaled the end of their five-game winning streak.

Davis' victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was JT Turley, who went 7-for-12 en route to 16 points in addition to seven assists and six boards. Turley is also on a roll when it comes to field goal percentage, as he's posted one of at least 50% in the last ten games he's played. Another player making a difference was Bode Sparrow, who went 6-for-12 on his way to 17 points and four steals.

Layton's loss dropped their record down to 21-5. As for Davis, they are on a roll lately: they've won 16 of their last 17 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 23-3 record this season.

Layton does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Davis, they and Herriman will face off at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday without much rest, having both just played. Both teams are coming into the match red-hot, with Herriman sitting on four straight wins and Davis on 11.
