Softball Recap: Friday's Defeat Ends Lumen Christi Catholic's Winning Streak

Lumen Christi Catholic dropped their record down to 22-8 on Friday, which also ended the team's nine-game streak of wins. They fell just short of the Central Catholic Fighting Irish by a score of 3-2. The Titans were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Fighting Irish earlier this season, when they won 12-1.

Lumen Christi Catholic saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Bree Okoniewski, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one run.

As for Central Catholic, the win was the tenth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 18-9. The team dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 9.6 runs.

On Central Catholic's side, Ella Schuberg spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on six hits and racked up nine Ks. Schuberg has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Maeley Bragg was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games she's played. Milla Bragg was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

Looking ahead, Lumen Christi Catholic will welcome Adrian at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Central Catholic, they will head out to square off against Maumee at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
