Football Recap: Jayden Rivers' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Sarasota over Parrish Community

Sarasota extended their losing streak to four on Friday, dropping them down to 4-6. They took a 35-28 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Parrish Community Bulls. While losing is never fun, the Sailors can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida football rankings (they are ranked 267th, while the Bulls are ranked 111th).

Several Sailors players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jayden Rivers, who picked up 170 receiving yards and one score. Rivers was no stranger to the big play, connecting on a big catch that went for 55 yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Hudson West, who threw for 356 yards and one TD.

As for Parrish Community, the victory (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 9-1. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 10.0 points on average over those games.

Parrish Community was led to victory by Jacoby Thomas and Brycen Volz. Thomas gained 239 total yards and a touchdown, while Volz threw for 214 yards and three touchdowns. The dominant performance also gave Thomas a new career-high in rushing yards (201). Parrish Community's leading receiver Nathan Schueller was Volz's top target yet again, picking up 92 receiving yards and one score.

As of now, neither Sarasota nor the Bulls have any future games scheduled.
