Baseball Recap: York Catholic's Winning Streak Snapped at Four Games

York Catholic dropped their record down to 5-10 on Monday, which also ended the team's four-game streak of wins. They lost 17-1 to the Bermudian Springs Eagles. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Eagles this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 11-0 on April 2nd.

York Catholic saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Connor Latrechiano, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base.

As for Bermudian Springs, the victory (which was their 14th in a row) raised their record to 15-1. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.0 runs over those games.

On Bermudian Springs' side, Skyler Gentzler looked comfortable as he pitched four innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Gentzler has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Teegan Byers was a standout: he went 3-for-4 with one home run, six RBI, and one double. Those six RBI gave him a new career-high. Trenton Smith also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

Coming up, York Catholic will head out to take on Delone Catholic at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday. The Squires will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something the Fighting Irish surely won't give up without a fight. As for Bermudian Springs, they will be playing at home against Susquehannock at 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The Eagles' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Warriors have averaged an impressive 6.1 runs per game this season.
